About the event

Join Arts for Learning teaching artist and musician, Dianna Davis, for an engaging workshop designed to encourage teachers and students to:

  • gain confidence in their innate artistic ability
  • work creatively with others
  • create music in the classroom
  • explore how music and the core academic subjects are connected
  • have fun making music together!

No previous music experience or skills required – just enthusiasm and a willingness to try something new!  Day 1 will include a collaborative musical experience for teachers and 4th grade students.  Day 2's session will give teachers a chance to unpack the experience with Dianna and brainstorm how to adapt the strategies they learned for their own classroom.

Day 1: February 27, 10:30-2:00 (there will be three, identical, 45-minute sessions, rotating through 4th grade classrooms--registrants can attend one or all sessions)

Day 2: February 28, 11:00-2:00 (lunch will be provided) (registrants can attend this session if they aren't able to come on the 27th, though it will be most useful if they can participate in at least one of the classroom sessions the day before)

The workshop is a part of The Castle’s Master Teacher Series, with support from the Allen Whitehill Clowes Foundation and Indiana Arts Commission/Arts Illiana.
